I've been writing this week on the promise of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) to stretch government budgets much further by significantly reducing the time and effort required by human employees for routine, mundane, non-value-add work. This story gives a great example from the IRS - reducing the time to gather routine information on vendors from 4 hours to 2 minutes - yes, you read that right, 4 hours to 2 minutes! Think about what your people can do with that kind of time . . .
“Saying that we are simply going to do the same tasks in the same way with fewer people and expect the same level of quality, the same level of negotiation skills, the same level of savings—it's asinine,” he said. “Let me bang my head against the wall again and see if it doesn't hurt this time.”
