The opioid crisis in the United States is at an all-time high. Law enforcement and paramedics can barely keep up with the market saturation and increased consumption.
Currently, the fight to end this epidemic has been at the state level. However, the recent sanctions on the Goldpharma network demonstrate the federal government’s awareness and willingness to contribute in the fight against opioids.
“Treasury’s action alongside our Argentine counterparts to shut down the Goldpharma network is part of this administration’s broader strategy to combat the synthetic opioid crisis, and to prevent narcotics traffickers from selling these deadly drugs in the United States,” said Sigal Mandelker, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
