There's an interesting challenge developing in government checking out and realizing the potential of blockchain technology - not enough non-tech people, primarily business- and program-management leaders, understand it.
Our education systems are jumping pretty quickly to crank out younger people who understand it, but that'll take lots of time - and we need to start experimenting NOW to change government faster. I'm now seeing more ideas about cross-sector partnerships among governments, academia and private-sector, to do joint experiments, ventures, workshops. Basically, we need to start breaking down our siloes, simplify our procurement processes, and allow more joint sharing and learning. Our citizens deserve it.
A strong partnership between industry and academia, for example, could help the broader audience better understand the nature and applications for blockchain; be it through hosting joint roundtables, events or partnering on new product announcements. Only by being aware of the transformative impact emerging technologies like blockchain can have across industries will the real-life applications match the excitement already displayed in the market.
