I've written before about the importance of identity management to improve government services, and the potential of blockchain tech to make ID management MUCH more efficient.

Several U.S. state governments are now also considering it. Both Pennsylvania and Washington are first tackling how to create a single user ID for citizens - and tackling the business need first I consider exactly what they should start with. But then they need to figure out the best technology tools to support it, and both are saying blockchain appears definitely worth a close look.
